Candle and Matchstick Box

Keep a candle and a matchstick box in front of you. Let the light fall from one side and observe carefully. Shade using different grades of pencils on 1/8 size paper. Draw what you observe — and observe what you draw. It works both ways. Make sure you refer to the sample provided.

NATA expects you to show good observation skills and correct proportions in your work.
