NID Entrance  Exam Coaching

The National Institute of Design is a recognized and well known public design university. Regarded as one of the best design schools in Asia it is ranked amongst the top 100 design institutes in the world. Known for its very limited seats across courses and an incredibly low acceptance  rate of only 14%, the NID Conducts the NID Design Aptitude Test every year, which allows admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Vijay Deore Design Studio we help enhance the candidate’s visualization skills, creative and observation skills, knowledge, comprehension, analytical ability etc. Which allow him to appear for the NID DAT with ease.

The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:

1) DAT Prelims - The candidate first appears in the Prelims exam & 2) DAT Mains - The scores of DAT Prelims are used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains.


Note that for admission to the B.Des or M.Des course, it is mandatory to appear in both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Currently, the B.Des course has an intake of 425 seats and is offered at the following FIVE campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh, and NID Assam. Meanwhile, the M.Des course offers 347 seats at its THREE campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar, and NID Bengaluru.

-Exam fee - Rs 3,000 (General category) and Rs 1,500 (Reserved categories)
-Exam duration -3 hours

-Number of seats - BDes – 425 & for MDes - 347 
-NID DAT 2023 scorecard contains details like the sectional and overall scores and the qualifying status; shortlisted candidates have to next appear in DAT Mains. The scores of DAT Prelims is used to shortlist candidates for the DAT Mains. Candidates who don't get shortlisted or fail to qualify DAT Prelims will not be eligible to appear in DAT Mains.

 

Weightage for the B.Des Program is as follows its as per the year 2023-24 - DAT Prelims- 40% & DAT Mains - 60%

Weightage for the NID DAT final results - M.Des Program (as per NID DAT 2022) - DAT Prelims : 30%, DAT Mains : (Studio Test-40%) & (Personal Interview-

Weightage 30%)
 

- Admission to the NIDs is conducted in a two-stage process.
- Exam Pattern 2023 - DAT Prelims (Overview) -Test duration - 3 hours for B Des & 2 ½ hours for the M DEs

- Mode :Pen-and-paper based & for the M Des  Online -Question type- Mix of subjective and objective & for the M Des also Mix of subjective and objective

- Total  number of questions for the B Des 26

- Total marks for the B DEs are 100 & also for the M Des 100 Marks 

- Medium of the test - English for both the exams
- The DAT Mains includes different test components for the B.Des and M.Des programs (as explained below). 
- B.Des - DAT Mains will include a Studio Test that will be conducted offline. 
- M.Des - The DAT Mains for M.Des will also include a Personal Interview, in addition to the Studio Test. The Studio Test will be conducted at NID campuses (offline), while the interview will be conducted online.

 

DAT Mains Components

-The DAT Mains test for the M.Des program has two test components: 1) Studio Test & 2) Personal Interview. However, DAT Mains for the B.Des program has only one test component: Studio Test.

Statement of Purpose and Portfolio Review for DAT Mains
Candidates who get shortlisted for DAT Mains will have to upload a Statement of Purpose (SoP) and Portfolio during the given window.
The specific time/window for uploading SoPs and Portfolio will be intimated to the candidate by the National Institute of Design through the registered email ID/ result page. The candidate has to upload SoPs and Portfolios separately for each discipline they are shortlisted for.


Format of the SoP - The Statement of Purpose should not contain more than 100 words for each question. The SoP should be uploaded as a single file (maximum size - 2 MB). Format of the Portfolio - The candidate has to upload a digital copy of their Portfolio in a single file (maximum size - 10 MB).


This year number of questions for the NID B Des were 32 number of questions. Total Marks 100 (Part 'A' is aptitude section (40 Marks) and Part 'B' is drawing section (60 Marks). About Part 'A' (Aptitude Section) here are the details: Questions 1 to 16 for the 1 marks for each question (11 questions GK & 5 Questions Non Verbal Reasoning) & Question number 17 to 28 where 2 marks each were allotted.  5 questions on reading comprehensions passage based on agriculture and Human Civilization. 7 Questions on Non Verbal & Verbal Reasoning.

Age Limit for B Des 


-For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.
-For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.
-For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
-For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.

UCEED Entrance Exam Coaching

UCEED is a test centre-based examination and has two parts: Part-A is computer-based and Part-B contains question related to sketching that needs to be attempted on the provided sheet. It is compulsory for the candidates to attempt both the parts in the given time.

At Vijay Deore Design Studio we train students to become accomplished in Visualization, spatial ability, design thinking, observation, design sensitivity and drawing.

What is UCEED Exam?


The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to the BDes program at the following participating institutes:

IIT Hyderabad
IIITDM Jabalpur


Candidates must note that simply being included in the UCEED merit list doesn’t guarantee admission to the B.Des program. Instead, UCEED 2023 qualifiers must apply separately for B.Des admission through the joint seat allocation process.

The Part A question paper of UCEED 2023 included questions from the following topics:

Here are the key points about the revised syllabus and structure for UCEED (Effective 2024 onwards):

 

The question paper will have two parts - Part A and Part B
Part A will be administered through a computer-based test and will consist of three sections (NAT, MSQ, and MCQ).
Part B will have two questions: one on Drawing and the other on Design aptitude. The question in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen and the answer has to be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator only.
The duration for part B would be 60 min.

Established in 1986, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi initially offered only one design course from a temporary two-room set-up. In 1994, NIFT Delhi shifted to its permanent campus which was designed by Dr BV Doshi. NIFT was set up in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and is a Statutory Institute Governed by the NIFT Act 2006.
